Miserable Chelsy splits from Prince Harry because she 'needs space'

Chelsy Davy has split from Prince Harry, telling him she 'needs space' to carve out her own identity.
The party-loving Zimbabwean told friends she was having a "trial separation" from the Prince while she studies at Leeds University and he pursues his Army career.
The couple began their separation in the style that has characterized their three-year relationship – partying hard at different nightclubs just a few miles away from each other in London.
Chelsy's decision to split from the Prince came less than a week after The Mail on Sunday revealed that the 22-year-old was desperately unhappy in Leeds.
The news is sure to cause concern to the Queen, who will be worried that the separation, following the on-off romance between Prince William and Kate Middleton, will convince the public that the young Royals, like their parents' generation, are incapable of forming stable relationships.
Chelsy was said to have made a series of tearful telephone calls to the Prince last week – and she later confided to a close friend that Harry had agreed to the "trial separation".
A friend close to Chelsy told The Mail on Sunday: "This is not an over-for-good situation. Chelsy and Harry both love each other very much but Chelsy has had a lot to come to terms with over recent months since moving to the UK and has not found the transition an easy one.
Chelsy is said to be miserable in Leeds while Harry is frustrated that he's not allowed to fight on the front line
"She kept saying she needed to take some time out to re-establish herself. She still loves him, but she feels she needs to carve an identity as her own person rather than as Prince Harry's girlfriend.
"Over recent weeks she's been coming down to London and partying with Harry's friends. They were together at Amika nightclub in Kensington just two weeks ago when Chelsy appeared incredibly down and subdued.
"She was not her normal partying self. She had confided it was because she was missing Zimbabwe and her family in South Africa but in fact she was having doubts about her relationship with Prince Harry back then.
"While they care for each other deeply she needs to be able to be her own person. She is pragmatic about the split. They're using it as an opportunity to take a break rather than splitting for good."

Chelsy doesn't disguise her displeasure when Harry was half an hour late meeting her 11-hour flight from Heathrow last month
A senior Palace aide was last night reported to have said: "The relationship is over. It has simply run its course. Harry will be carrying on his Army career and Chelsy will continue her studies."
But we can reveal today that Harry has had as many problems with his Army career as with his relationship with Chelsy.
He has told friends that he has threatened to leave the Household Cavalry and concentrate on charity work if he is not sent to Afghanistan to fight with his regiment.
Immediately after the split, Harry was back at Amika, partying hard with a group of five friends on Friday night – one of whom bore a remarkable resemblance to his old friend, TV presenter Natalie Pinkham. "She looked very pretty," said one onlooker.
He was overheard boasting that he planned to get "as drunk as possible" and ran up a £2,500 bar bill in only a few hours. Other guests noticed an ice bucket filled with a magnum of Dom Perignon champagne, at a cost of £400 a bottle.
Meanwhile Chelsy was on the other side of London, partying with friends from Leeds, where she is studying for her law postgraduate degree.
She is said to have been concerned about Harry's increasing appetite for alcohol, as well as not feeling able to trust the 23-year-old Prince when he was not by her side.
Last week this newspaper revealed that Chelsy's friends in Leeds had become concerned that she was becoming increasingly depressed about her situation.
Less than two months into her two-year course, she appeared to be finding it difficult to settle in and deal with a new country, climate and social scene.
Prince Harry and Chelsy Davy share an intimate moment
Her mother Beverly had initially stayed in Leeds to help her put down some roots, but she has now flown back to South Africa.
Chelsy is said to have found it hard to cope with swapping her privileged upbringing in Zimbabwe, where she has a penthouse apartment and a family ranch, for the dour surroundings of Leeds, where she lives in a redbrick terrace house.
And despite traveling 6,000 miles to be closer to her boyfriend, Chelsy has not seen as much of Harry as she might have liked.
They are still separated by a 200 miles, as he has had duties to perform at his barracks in Windsor with the Household Cavalry, where he holds the rank of Second Lieutenant.
She has been a frequent visitor to London and Windsor, but he has only made the trip to Yorkshire once in the last two months, making a flying visit.
Another friend told The Mail on Sunday: "They've coped with a long-distance relationship for that long but the chances are that like William and Kate, Harry and Chelsy will get back together. They adore each other but it's simply a case of both of them needing to take some time out."
Harry had hoped to go to Afghanistan with the rest of his comrades in the Household Cavalry's C squadron in a second deployment, after first being refused the posting in May. But last month he was told he would be too much of a target for terrorists.
"He has become so disincentivised that all he wants to do is get smashed with his friends and hang out with them," the friend added. "He hasn't paid Chelsy the attention she expected.
"When they were at Amika nightclub two weeks ago their body language spoke volumes. Just a few weeks before at the same club they were incredibly tactile, openly kissing and hugging. The second time, Chelsy looked miserable.
"The past fortnight has been incredibly upsetting for both of them. There have been numerous tearful conversations. Ultimately it was Chelsy who told Harry she needed time out, but she is hopeful they can work things out."
Chelsy is said to have been particularly upset that Harry chose to go to France to watch the Rugby World Cup final last month rather than attend her 22nd birthday party.

PRINCE HARRY has been ditched by girlfriend Chelsy Davy, the News of the World can reveal.
The pretty blonde ended their three-year romance in a series of tearful phone calls this week, telling him: "It's over."
Close pals say that she became tired of Harry's boozy, playboy lifestyle and angry at his total lack of commitment.
See pics of Chelsy here
One told us: "Chelsy just couldn't put up with his antics any more. She feels they've fallen out of love."
The prince was seen consoling himself with a mystery brunette at a London nightclub on Friday.
She put up with him snogging a sexy telly presenter, fooling around with two saucy barmaids and his drunken trip to a seedy lap-dancing club.
But it was Prince Harry's date with Jonny Wilkinson that finally put an end to his relationship with Chelsy Davy.
Close friends say Chelsy was devastated when the prince snubbed her 22nd birthday to go to the Rugby World Cup Final in Paris with mates.
The curvy blonde told her pals: "I've had enough."
A senior palace aide told the News of the World last night: "The relationship is over. It has simply run its course.
"Harry will be carrying on with his army career and Chelsy will continue with her studies."
The couple looked miserable on their last night out together at London's posh Amika nightclub on October 26—just six days after the rugby final.
Chelsy was in tears, sparking rumors the end was near. She climbed into the back of the chauffeur-driven car. Harry was told to get in the front.
The bitter end to the three-year relationship finally came in a series of long-distance phone calls this week.
Harry was doing charity work in African country Lesotho while Chelsy was at her student digs in Leeds.
One friend told us: "Chelsy just couldn't put up with his antics any more. She feels they've fallen out of love.
"She was sick to the back teeth of Harry not putting the maximum amount of effort into the relationship.
"She doesn't often show her emotion but there were a few tears shed on the phone as she realized it was all over."
Chelsy had become frustrated with Harry's lack of commitment since she began her law course six weeks ago.
The Zimbabwe-born babe had the option to continue her studies in sun-drenched Cape Town but instead chose West Yorkshire to be closer to the boyfriend she calls "Haz".
She told pals she was so happy to be beginning a new life in Britain and would enjoy spending every weekend with the prince.
But despite Chelsy going to London twice last month, Harry has only been up north ONCE since she enrolled.
As one friend put it: "It's ironic that Chelsy and Harry had a beautiful relationship when they were 6,000 miles apart. But when they lived 195 miles apart they could only make it last two months.
"They thought their relationship would get even stronger but in fact it has crumbled."
The relationship started to hit the rocks the moment Chelsy arrived in England on September 6.
Landing at Heathrow Airport after a 12-hour overnight flight from Cape Town, she was seen screaming into her mobile phone: "Where are you?"
Harry finally arrived 45 minutes late, looking like he had just got out of bed and snarling at photographers.
Friends say Chelsy also felt she could not trust the 23-year-old prince when he was not by her side.
While she was studying for exams last year, Channel 5 presenter Natalie Pinkham, 28, demanded a kiss from the prince as they partied at the home of royal aide Mark Dyer.
Natalie, who has repeatedly denied being romantically linked with Harry, said: "Oh Harry, give us a kiss!"
He replied: "Oh, not here." She then went down some steps to get a goodnight smooch from him.
Harry had famously groped Natalie's boobs on a night out in London a year before he met Chelsy. In June this year he was pictured being given a double-kiss by two bar girls while on army training in Canada.
The News of the World also revealed that later that night Harry invited a THIRD barmaid back to his rented house.
Blonde Katherine Smith told how he cavorted in front of her in a blue and orange sarong before whipping off his boxer shorts and spanking her.
A friend of Chelsy's said last night: "Just like Natalie Pinkham and the stories in Canada, Chelsy gets so upset when she hears of Harry out with other girls. Chelsy was furious after the Canada episode and was in two minds about calling it off then.
"But she was making plans to come to England so thought she would ride out the storm and give him another chance."
On Friday night, just hours after being dumped, Harry was back out on the town with a pretty brunette.
An onlooker at Amika, the same club he was last seen at with Chelsy, said: "Harry and the mystery girl were getting extremely close to each other.
"It was obvious that they knew each other from old. There was a lot of touching. Harry needs a shoulder to cry on at this time and it hasn't taken him long to find someone."
The prince ran up a £2,500 bill in two hours, drinking passionfruit vodka shots and long drinks of vodka and Red Bull.
His tucked-away table had an ice-bucket with a £400 bottle of champagne in it.
Harry was heard to say he wanted to get "as drunk as possible" and ended the night dancing on the club's sofas.
He was seen leaving at around 2am with the brunette and a male pal heading in the direction of his London home, Clarence House. A source close to the prince said: "He was just letting his hair down.
"It's difficult splitting up with anyone but when you've been with them for three years, it's so much harder."
Harry and Chelsy met in early 2004 when she was a pupil at Cheltenham Ladies' College close to his father Prince Charles's Highgrove estate.
Almost immediately rumours surfaced of Harry's fling with a stunning 17-year-old Swede while on a royal skiing holiday.
Then there were lurid tales of him ogling girls' boobs in a tacky lap-dancing bar in Slough, Berks, and paying £20 to dance with strippers.
One of the girls, Annabella, 22, told the News of the World: "Harry's eyes were popping out like organ stops. He was inches from one girl's boobs."
A source close to Harry said: "He and Chelsy have come to a crossroads and sadly have decided to go their separate ways. Harry has got a lot to give to the army and his charities and that will be his main priority."
A close friend of Chelsy said: "Many in royal circles thought they might walk down the aisle before Prince William and Kate Middleton, they were so close.
"Now Chelsy will think moving to England was a bad idea. She hates the weather, hasn't got that many friends up there and now she's lost Harry."
Chelsy Davy: The ‘amazing girl’ who captured Harry’s heart
November 11, 2007

By JAMES TAPPER
It began with a picture of the couple kissing on the balcony of Chelsy's parents' £300,000 holiday home near Durban in South Africa.
It was November 2004 and the revelation in The Mail on Sunday was the first the world knew of the Royal romance – and just how serious it was.
Harry met Chelsy while he was taking a gap year in Africa after leaving Eton and before he embarked on his Army career.
And he first discussed the vivacious Zimbabwean blonde in his 21st birthday interview in 2005, when he told journalists: "I would love to tell everyone how amazing she is but once I start talking about that, I have left myself open."
It started with a kiss: Harry and Chelsy share their first public embrace, in 2004, on the balcony of her family's holiday home in Durban
During a 2005 skiing holiday Prince William told a journalist how his younger brother and Chelsy were "very much in love".
Over the next three years they enjoyed a string of luxury holidays together, with trips to the Indian Ocean, Cape Town, Botswana and a cricket break in Antigua in April this year – where they were pictured kissing as England played Australia in the World Cup Super Eights.
But Harry's visit to a lap-dancing club in Calgary, Canada, in June while he was on a training exercise with the Army raised doubts about his commitment to the relationship, with reports that he spent most of the evening talking to pretty 21-year-old bartender Cherie Nicole Cymbalisty.
And on a number of occasions the relationship appeared to be under strain, such as when Harry arrived late to collect Chelsy at Heathrow in September following a gruelling 11-hour flight as she arrived in Britain to begin her post-graduate studies at Leeds University.
The apparent unease then was in direct contrast to earlier pictures of the couple enjoying carefree nights out at London nightspots like the fashionable Mahiki club.
But in recent weeks Chelsy seemed increasingly unhappy and earlier this month she was pictured looking particularly downcast as she left Amika in Kensington with Harry. She sat in the back of the car while Harry sat in the front next to their driver.
Earlier this year The Mail on Sunday revealed that Chelsy had signed up for a two year post-graduate course in politics and law at Leeds, a move that seemed to further mark her commitment to Harry.
But within two months of her arrival in Yorkshire, Chelsy was spotted looking downcast – raising concerns over whether she would complete her studies.
Now, though friends say they still care for each other, they are going their separate ways – for the moment, at least.

And on a personal note...I'm not upset about it lol. I mean it all seemed like bull from the start anyway--the same as William and Kate--but who knows. And her friends are claiming it's just temp...the palace not so much.
Like I said, it's just a personal opinion, nothing meant by it but my own feelings.
Apparently Chelsy--and/or the media--has no clue what's going on. One minute they're split and she wants to run home and quit Leeds, then they get back together and she wants to stay, then Chelsy's friend is helping her get over Harry and Chelsy wants to quit Leeds to move in with her in London...I'm confuzzeled. Prince Harry and Chelsy Davy in happy times
Prince Harry has got back together with girlfriend Chelsy Davy after the pair split last week, the Daily Mirror newspaper reported.
The prince, a British army officer, and Zimbabwean Davy, who is studying at Leeds University, northern England, reunited after a two-hour meeting in the last few days when he vowed to take the relationship more seriously, it said.
The son of heir to the throne Prince Charles and the late princess Diana had bombarded Davy with text messages and telephone calls since their split after several years together, the paper added.
“Chelsy was always going to take him back but wanted him to sweat a bit,” an unnamed friend of the couple said. “He apologised and promised to treat their relationship seriously.
“She agreed to give him another chance if he kept his word.”
Prince Harry, who is frequently pictured in Britain’s press leaving nightclubs and bars in the early hours, was reportedly dumped by Davy after attending the Rugby World Cup and missing her birthday.

Prince Harry’s ex-girlfriend has been confiding in 23-year-old Bubble, and has even rented a room in her four-bedroom house in fashionable Chelsea.
Chelsy has been using the upmarket address as a base while in London, and is said to be considering quitting her postgraduate course in Leeds and making a permanent move to London, where she could try to renew her romance with Harry.
Chelsy has been back in touch with the Prince after dumping him two weeks ago and says her future is “up in the air”.
Bubble, whose real name is Olivia Perry, has been helping her friend decide.
One friend said last night: “Chelsy is in London and living with her best friend, Bubble. She really isn’t sure what she’s doing with her life. She is saying she wants to quit Leeds and move to London.”
Miss Perry, a 23-year-old sales assistant at an upmarket boutique on the King’s Road, is said to be supporting her friend until she returns to her family in South Africa for Christmas.
